NRA Bans Working Guns At NRA Convention

The NRA (National Redneck Association) will be having their annual convention this weekend in Tennessee, a state that has some of the laxest gun control laws in the country.  (Undoubtedly, Scott Walker will be there pandering his little heart out.)

If one believes the tripe shoveled out by this subsidiary of ALEC, that should be the safest place in the world, with all those responsible, law-abiding citizens ready to Second Amendment the hell out of any bad guys (or black people).

And it just might be a very safe place, but nor for the reasons the NRA would have you think.

From my friend, LeftofCenter at Crooks and Liars (emphasis theirs):
Interestingly enough, the gun extravaganza has safety measures in place.
A multilevel security plan went into works not long after Nashville was chosen as the convention destination. All guns on the convention floor will be nonoperational, with the firing pins removed, and any guns purchased during the NRA convention will have to be picked up at a Federal Firearms License dealer, near where the purchaser lives, and will require a legal identification.
The NRA and the insatiable ammosexual, Wayne LaPierre, claim that the only thing that kills a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun. If the answer to gun violence is more guns, then why not keep them all operational and ready? I'm sure this issue won't be addressed in Nashville.
Aren't they afraid that they will be a bunch of sitting ducks for the bad guys? How will they ever be able to chant "'Murica!" with any feeling of confidence without iron strapped on them? How will they prove their machismo without their phallic symbols?

Or could it be, just possibly, that they are a bunch of flaming hypocrites that know that guns don't really make anyone safer?
