of course whats even worse than Tommy messing up the date is his campaign failed and feeble attempt to explain this flub.
"There are two plausible explanations as to the recent 9/18 versus 9/11 reference made by Tommy Thompson at a recent event," said campaign spokesman Brian Nemoir. "First, the entire civilized world has the wrong date of this historic and tragic attack on our nation's soil; second, during a spirited campaign appearance Tommy Thompson misspoke regarding an horrific episode in our country’s history during which he played a key leadership role. The campaign is fully examining both scenarios."
He declined to answer a follow-up question on whether that meant Thompson had misspoken.
Tommy can't even be honest when he mis speaks and he thinks the people of Wisconsin will not notice or hold him accountable?
Now we see why he has donated to democrats throughout his career, he needs all of the help he can get! It is not really surprising though, taking a cue from Mitt Romney, Tommy Thompson is denouncing everything he ever accomplished in his political career!
Maybe he is better off not speaking until he has had a few cold ones:
Tammy Baldwin is the only real choice for the Wisconsin US Senate seat!
The first anthrax letters were postmarked 9/18.
ReplyDeleteOnce you know that, what he is saying makes sense; though he certainly could have been more clear about that, because who - besides him - knows that off the top of their head (including, apparently, his campaign people).
Robert, I agree that that is a reasonable explanation except for two things.
Delete1. if that was what tommy meant his campaign massively failed on that one.
2. if that was what tommy was referring too, he failed. The anthrax attacks showed some of the biggest incompetence of the Bush Administration. Not only did someone die, they never found out who did it and wrongly accused someone. So if by saying he kept America safe after 9/18 his main strategy was hope like hell whoever did it doesnt do it again, then yes he kept America safe after 9/18, but as for doing anything to stop it or bring someone to justice - not so much!
Give the man a break! He was still in the DTs when speaking as he had to sober up for his press date!! (I seriously think he has dementia of some sort.)
ReplyDeleteWow! He's been coasting on name recognition in the GOP polls among people who haven't seen today's Tommy, but it's hard to see how he can survive the primary once his opponents take their gloves off and run some attack ads. This is a grotesque parody of the Tommy Thompson who was governor of Wisconsin. His friends weren't doing him any favor by urging him to run.
ReplyDeletesince rachael maddow gave a lot of play to rick perry's bizarre "maple syrup" speech during the new hampshire primary, i'm looking forward to her playing the lambeau field speech if tommy wins the nomination.
ReplyDeleteAgree with Jeff about the anthrax. For Tommy to proudly boast of his achievements in that regard is just pathetic. The anthrax attacks may have played a bigger role in our attacking Iran than even 9/11. The only thing we know for sure even today is that the anthrax came from a U.S. weapons lab, and that's downright frightening. For Tommy to brag about his role makes you wonder what he's got sloshing around between his ears.
ReplyDeleteNo fan of Tommy T. but if you listen to this it is very clear he meant 9/18 anthrax attacks.
ReplyDeleteI agree he meant the 9/18 attacks -- but what he said was incoherent. And, again, the government's role was unimpressive at best. Does he really want to take credit for that?
ReplyDeleteStill supporting ethanol? Tommy, I mean, not bloggers.
