and you would think that their pure stupidity would be enough to shame them to thinking before they speak, you would also be wrong. It seems like everyday a republican somewhere has to outcrazy everyone from the day before. Today's example is republican congressman from California David Dreier.
H/T Think Progress....
On Monday evening, Rep. David Dreier (R-CA) said that insurance companies should be allowed to discriminate against people with brain tumors during a House Rules Committee debate of the GOP’s bill repealing the Affordable Care Act. The law, which Republicans will vote to eliminate on Wednesday, includes a provision prohibiting insurance companies from turning away sick people.
But Dreier suggested that these individuals would be better off enrolling in state-based “high-risk insurance pools,” that could offer coverage to the individuals who are turned away from the individual health care market because they are too costly to cover:
DREIER: And I believe my state of California has a structure in place to deal with pre-existing conditions. It’s a pooling process, which I think is one worthy of consideration, because while I don’t that think someone who is diagnosed with a massive tumor should the next day be able to have millions and millions and millions of dollars in health care provided, I do believe that there can be a structure to deal with the issue of pre-existing conditions.
Hey David F&*K YOU!
Who votes for these guys?
So let me get this straight, You want government to run the healthcare system but apparently your hoping you'll agree with every decision they make? Good luck with that. I would just as soon they make no decisions about health care other than to regulate the insurance industry.
ReplyDeleteDo you know any senior citizens? Don't they all get Medicare? That is a government program.
DeleteWhat are you going to do when you retire? Your job is not going to pay for your benefits into retirement, are they? Then what will you do?
I agree with you that the insurance industry should be regulated. I am surprised you want regulations.
I want the doctor/patient to run the healthcare system via a single payer system but we are very far away from that.
ReplyDeleteI want us to end for profit healthcare today, but we are also very far away from that.
what i want most of all is if a fellow American gets diagnosed with a brain tumor and he/she needs surgery tomorrow, then he/she gets surgery tomorrow. I want people who get diagnosed with a disease or a sickness to have a chance to live and beat that diagnosis!
In a single payer system the doctor and patient have no control anymore. You don't follow any stories from Canada or Britain?
DeleteWe are one step closer to limiting obscene profits for the insurance markets by making WEAC compete for customers rather than requiring the taxpayers foot their bill at any cost.
yeah, whatever makes you sleep better at night. Start reading about wait times for Surgery in Canada, because that will be the next thing to keep you up. Or this: http://iusbvision.wordpress.com/2009/06/26/obama-old-people-dont-need-life-saving-treatments-they-can-take-a-pain-pill-and-be-left-to-die/
Jeff, I give you the canadian health care system. Single payer efficiency.
Deletehttp://articles.cnn.com/2009-07-06/politics/canadian.health.care.system_1_government-run-health-health-care-system-mayo-clinic?_s=PM:POLITICS
Wow, one anecdotal story. Now I'm convinced! Obviously the millions of other people that are happy with their system is full of crap, right?
DeleteNo, it works only because it plays into Jeffs fear of somebody not getting the needed surgery for a brain tumor. And, its from a left wing news source. For you, I would need to find an example of severe delusion not being treated.
DeleteI'm joking about the delusion, so save the angry posts please.
The thing is, I can and I have produced just as many anecdotal incidents in the US. A woman that laid on the floor of an ER in New York for an hour before she died. A kid in Kansas, IIRC, that's been waiting the better part of a year for surgery on his broken skull. In all overall ratings, Canada comes out ahead.
Deleteracist,i see the polls coming from canada and europe where the citizens are very happy with their health system. we don't see riots on the streets, protests ... etc. to validate your claims.
Deletewhere i come from we call what you do cherrypicking.
I don't buy the WEAC was evil story. I think they provided good benefits, in fact, I read that many school systems still use WEAC because they offer good benefits at low cost.
Deleteeagle, we will have our poll, in November. It will be a referendum on health care. You know, why else would anybody want Obama out of office, right?
DeleteAnom: take a minute and read:
http://my.journaltimes.com/post/MC/blog3/what_the_unions_really_were_fighting_for.html
I am all for unions running their own businesses, but no bid at taxpayers expense? it's like giving them a casino.
sorry this drivel lost me on the first sentence, I was at the capitol daily and saw nothing violent nor did I see anything disgusting.
DeleteNo district went from that kind of deficit to that kind of surplus for changing insurance. As was ssaid many people stayed or switch to Weac because they were cheaper. What they are finidng out is many companies were cheaper TO GET THE CONTRACT, once the contract is signed the rates get jacked up.
racist, what do you think of walker selling state owned power plants at a "no bid" ? how would the taxpayers fare their ? the koch boys would feel like kids in a candy store.oh,that's right, they already feel that way here in wisconsin.
DeleteDreir your typically corrupt and ethically challenged Republican grifter, working the long con. From 2009 we have this story:
ReplyDeletehttp://downwithtyranny.blogspot.com/2009/07/david-dreier-r-ca-caught-up-in-ethics.html
"Last night The Hill broke the news that San Gabriel Valley Congressman David Dreier seems to have been breaking the law in the use of campaign contributions for personal expenses, something observers have long suspected. It appears that he's stolen as much as $200,000 from the legalized bribes paid to him by his big corporate donors..."
"The banksters and Big Insurance CEOs have lavished $2,124,338 on Dreier, far more than your average congressman...And Dreier is in the top ranks of recipients of legalized bribes from the Medical-Industrial Complex as well-- $597,439."
And if that isn't enough:
"Dreier is notoriously dishonest in his personal life-- a lifelong homosexual living in the closet, hypocritically refusing to acknowledge his sexuality while voting against equality for ordinary gay families who don't have the protections afforded the high and mighty..."
Having met Canadians of all political strips not a single one would trade their system for ours. If you require surgery for cancer or an emergency you are taken in with timeliness equal to our system. You do not go bankrupt do to illness. It works there and can work here also.
ReplyDeleteThe Canadians I know also like their system and can't believe how ours is so screwed up.
DeleteI know a lot of people that like our system and don't want it changed. I would say a majority nationwide. But we will see in November.
DeleteThe funny thing is when the separate part of ACA is polled, people love it. Your misleading messaging is working for Big Insurance but not for the people. Sadly, I don't think that you even know what your talking about when you attack ACA.
Deleteexactly, its not really a referendum on the ACA, when groups like AFP distort it so much in their ads....
Deletesimilar to the june 5th electioon was not really a referendum on walker when everything he campaigned on wasnt true.
Imbroglio, something like 50,000. People die a year from no insurance so plenty of people do not get the treatment they need. However let's say everyone did, did you see the video? If republicans have their way the brain tumor person will just suffer.
ReplyDeleteDid he mean, for example, that the person with the brain tumor, who might be going to die in 2 months, shouldn't get an expensive operation like a knee replacement, since they were going to die soon anyway?
ReplyDeleteIsn't this like the death panel idea that the GOP hated? I don't like the pool idea. It sounds like it would be very expensive.
