Remember a couple of years ago when Scott Walker, "dropped the bomb" and a bunch of teachers called in sick to head to the Capitol to protest?
Remember how the right wing lunatics in our state went crazy when schools had to be cancelled because the teachers were protesting their government?
If you "inappropriately" called in sick the day of to miss work, many were even disciplined!
In Racine, district spokeswoman Stacy Tapp also said that any of the 400 teachers absent on Thursday who called in sick inappropriately or took an unannounced personal day would be disciplined.
Apparently that doesn't apply to every public worker in this state as this was just posted on facebook:
Governor Scott Walker
Tonette wants me to continue my tradition of taking Matt and Alex to opening day. Her dad would love it.
I guess unlike the public education teachers in our state, this Scott Walker guy does not have a very important job (completely paid for by the taxpayers) and so there is no need for him to head to the office or even plan ahead when he wants to have a day off.
Lucky him, because the rest of us are fighting to improve our state from the dismal ratings and job reports we keep getting!
Seriously though:
Play Ball!
It must be hard to be so angry all the time. So where does it say Walker called in sick, versus taking a very valid vacation day off. Big difference there, but I know you won't understand. Hate away...
ReplyDeleteSo teachers who took a "vary valid" vacation day to protest was ok?
ReplyDeleteThere you go again, change the argument to suit your needs. You said nothing of teachers who took a vacation day, rather those that called in sick. Very different argument, and frankly your original argument in the post is weak. I have absolutely no problems with a teacher taking a day of vacation to go protest in Madison. Calling in sick, getting paid and traveling to Madison to protest, that's called fraud. If Walker took a vacation day to go to opening day, so be it. Very different situation. And I agree with what's probably the majority opinion here, politicians R & D, take way too many vacations days at our expense, Walker and Obama included.
Deletehey dude, how about all those fundraisers and rallys walker is going to around the country ? how many "vacation" days is a governor supposed to get ? and who pays for all the expenses ?
DeleteTeachers skipped out on a known work day. What did the Gov work schedule have listed for today? Do we know what he missed?
ReplyDeleteYeah, he missed a lot.
DeleteGovernor's Monday Schedule:
9:30 AM: Arrive at office, brown bag in hand
9:30-10:00 AM: Look wistfully out window dreaming that it's the West Wing
10:00-11:00AM: Monday conference call with ALEC to get orders for the week
11:00-11:30: Check secret routers in office ceiling. Still there!
11:30: Take brown bag lunch out of desk. Baloney again??!!??
11:35: Throw out brown bag lunch and call up Prosser for lunch date
11:45-1:00: Steak and matrinis with Michael Best and Fredrich heavies.
1:00 Arrive back at capitol, get frightened by singers and protesters.
1:00-1:30: Hide in Men's room from evil protesters.
1:30-2:00: Back to office. Check the left-wing blogs.
2:00-2:30: Order political staff to troll lefty blogs
2:30-3:30: Meeting on the Economy: Spin "game of life" wheel to determine "real" job growth numbers. Throw darts at Obama portrait. Ask magic 8-ball when tax cuts for the rich will start the jobs boom it promised. ("Sources say no")
3:30-4:00: Gaze longingly at Koch brothers portraits.
4:00-4:30: Catch up on latest Fox "news"
4:30: Leave for home
5:00 "I'm home honey! What's for dinner?"
Yep, he sure missed a busy day!
(Man, did you walk into that one...and on April 1 of all days!)
I mean, not wish to take a baseball bat into a crowd of non-violent citizens mad...
ReplyDeleteI can tell you one thing he missed.....creating jobs in WI. He has been noticeably absent on that front.
ReplyDeleteBut hey Gallardo pitches today!
You're a special kinda stupid aren't you Jeff!
ReplyDeleteYou're so desperate and it shows! Do you hold your President to the same standards you hold Governor Walker to? Obama's been on vacation 3x this year - and WE pay for it too, and he's costing us millions every single time he goes. Why aren't you blogging about that? Hypocrite = Democrat. I even see your face in the dictionary.
ReplyDelete131 and counting. He'll have to lay down some serious R&R to reach GW - 1,020 days and counting.
DeleteI guess that makes you the hypocrite and a rather stupid one, right?
Jeffypoo, you running out of women to pick on?
ReplyDeleteYou can alwyas tell a knot-sie...you guys bring so much to the table
DeleteI called the Governor's office and expressed by concern about not getting his job done. It was interesting - the person answering the phone really had no experience or skills. It was like taking to a zombie. Anyway - I did inquire about his schedule and of course, that was not available. I might add though that his son in high school has the day off. It's also possible that MU has off today but not sure.
ReplyDeleteRegardless - the Governor isn't the only one to play hooky on opening day.
But he should be setting an example and trying to take fewer personal days than the 54 he took last year.
Walker is quite the tool- put out a bizarro budget and let his party eat themselves over it - more divide and conquer and take off to play - RUN FOR PRESIDENT
Our Dear Leader takes off way more days than our Gov. No complaints about him I see.
ReplyDeleteLay off. His Father in Law died. He took the kids to a ballgame. SO.... don't be a dick.
ReplyDeleteI don't mind him going to the game. I also think the teachers did the right thing. The teachers stood up for the school kids and their voice in the decision making at schools. I think it is nice that Gov. Walker wants to honor his father in law and I am sorry that Tonette's dad has passed away. Anyone who has had their dad pass away can relate to this. My dad liked baseball too.
ReplyDeleteI dont mind him going to the game and i didnt mind the teachers taking a day to do what they did either.
ReplyDeleteI do mind the blatant hypocrisy and the demonization that his divide and conquer strategy has spread throughout WI and he seems oblivious to it all and he has his little knotsies to try and let everyone know that he doesnt have to work, he broke the unions thats all they wanted out of him.
Usually a fan of the blog but this is ridiculous. Bigger whiner than the right.
ReplyDelete@3:00 - and Bush took way more off than Obama. Thing is- Walker takes personal days to campaign. 54 to be exact. Teachers are alowed 1 maybe 2 personal days.
ReplyDeleteexactly and when they took them, the right wing acted like the world was ending
DeleteWhere are you bashing Tom Barrett, Tammy Baldwin & Chris Abele for going to the game? You are being a hypocrite as usual. Teachers get the summer, Christmas, and spring breaks, that is why they don't get many personal days. You certainly like to whine a lot.
ReplyDeleteOk reading comprehension lesson #1.
ReplyDeleteI am Not "bashing" anyone for going to opening day. I am "bashing" those who take off work to attend opening day, who also went out of their way to "bash" the teachers who took a day off to protest.
@4:41: teachers do not get paid during the summer nor are they paid for Winter, Spring and summer breaks. They are paid for 190 or more days. They can only take their vacation during that 190 days. Even then- it has to be pre approved. Walker just takes off when he wants at a whim. 54 last year.
ReplyDeleteEDIT :

Kind of like his focus on jobs- whimsical.
Vacation days are vacation days for each of us to use as we choose. I understand what you're trying to say here, but I think you miss the mark. With that said, strange replies from wing nuts trying to shift the discussion to President Obama who's actually accumulated a low vacation day count for a president. Gov. Walker has had his day and as he sets his sights nationally, he competes at a different level. Sit back and watch the show. He'll get eviscerated by his own party, of course.
ReplyDeleteSpot On posting, once again!! Lots of Rethuglicans out there playing hooky from work today are the same jerks who have mercilessly ripped teachers for the past 2 years over taking a day to go to Madison after Walker dropped the bomb.
ReplyDeleteThese are the same folks in their Suburbans or $50,000 4X4 trucks who STILL are flipping off teachers across Wisconsin who dare to put a "Teachers Care" bumper sticker on their 10 year old car.
Our new state motto should be: "Feel the hate in Wisconsin.
Tho this is a more accurate criticism, and well said. I have no issue with Walker heading to Opening Day like a lot if Wisconsinites, and Jeff shouldn't be ripping him for it (sorry Jeff, but that is kind if lame).
DeleteBut to hear Walker and his spokesmen on the radio rip on public employees for using their EARNED VACATION TIME for what they choose to do is also lame. It proves once again how filled with jealousy and self-absorption these whiners are, and we see the hypocrisy clear as day.
I dont disagree with any of your post Jake. But, I thought that enough teachers took the day and schools had to close. Dont know if that is true or not. But I do think it isnt right.
ReplyDeleteActually, it was more than right. No better way to show how needed you are than to have you go away for a day or two, and watch the average dope have to scramble.
DeleteIn fact, the more I think about it, many of the rest of us in the state should have done the same after Act 10 was signed. Apparently that's what it takes to send the message to some about what we do and how needed it is.
The difference between Walker and the teachers protesting is that the teachers LIED!. They called in sick and went to protest. They lied to their boss. If they worked for me, I would have fired them for lying to me. If they had an approved day off already , then by all means, they should feel free to do what you want on their day off. Teachers want to be considered professionals….that was not the way a professional acts and they hurt their own image. Making parents scramble around at the last hour trying to find someone to watch their kids or take a day off themselves is not the best way to gain sympathy.
ReplyDeleteand walker never lied ? you are a fool !
DeleteThe hypocrisy at this blog is epic. Nothing but a bunch of pissed off children.
ReplyDeleteGrow up!
hypocrisy ? i see consistency in their beleifs.
