The Shorter Walker Budget
By Jeff Simpson
This says all you need to know about Scott Walker.
Inherent in this broad mission are methods of
instruction, research, extended training and public service designed to educate
people and improve the human condition. Basic to every purpose of the system is the
search for truth.

Walker claims to be "unintimidated." But he does fear one thing: the truth.
ReplyDeleteWell we already knew that Scott Walker is the anti-truth candidate. Nice to have it in writing, though, finally. I wonder when, if ever, his supporters will figure it out?
ReplyDeleteMadCity, they will never catch on. The end justifies the means and any other point of view is libitard to Scott Walker's supporters. This is what happens when unlimited campaign donations buy a demagogue who sells red meat seared in snake oil to the electorate.
ReplyDeleteMUST STOP TRUTH
ReplyDeleteScott Walker thinks my university has fat to trim. Yet my department is barely scraping by.

ReplyDeleteScott Walker works to harness national donor network for White House run

When you believe the world is less than 10,000 years old, and good science conflicts with your basic "truths", cutting public education at all levels is an easy option. Isn't that the truth Governor Walker?
ReplyDeleteYour comment is way off base. You make it sound like Walker has a belief that the Bible should be taken literally and that is why he despises public education. He obviously does not hold any Christian beliefs, nor does he make any decisions based on biblical "truths". Once you and all others who oppose Walker realize that he only worships money and power, only then will we be able to shake the state of the scoundrel. Please read Matthew 25 and James 4, then get back to me on where he really stands.
DeleteTruth - Walker had below average grades in college and I doubt he has read the Bible. Far too complex. Walker operates in a literal way, not metaphorical. When Walker says big and bold, he is literally going to drop a bomb like cut funds for UW or cut SeniorCare. Watch your back!
DeletePreparing to leave home state of WI. Raised 3 kids with STEM degrees (PhD and masters level). Warned them about changes to the WI we loved and two have left already. More talented young people will follow. We're too old to see this state return to the values we once held dear. We don't want to be surrounded by people who are complicit in destroying WI. They are free to wallow in their anti-intellectual, anti-science, anti-human decency, self-centered cesspool of a state. If we thought there was a chance for things to turn around we'd stay and continue to fight, but the last election proved the people of this state are beyond hope.
ReplyDeleteIt is painful to hear what you are saying, when you I both, I am sure, know many caring people here. My only hope now is that the lamestream press in Wisconsin will be exposed for the garbage they have become by the national press following Walkers latest powergrab and people here finally do wake up, otherwise I will be asking you for your empty boxes.
DeleteYou are in good company. WI has had record numbers of people leave the state after Walker was elected. It is true that, despite all the evidence of wrongdoing, Walker gets a pass. It will get much worse before it gets better. WI needs Walker to bring it to a low point for people to wake up. Some never will - the lake country 55-70 year old white males are loving Walker. They have a antiquated view of WI where men have all the power, and women are barefoot and pregnant or cooking dinner for their man and tending to chores. As those people age, hopefully more younger, progressive people will emerge and start to return WI to a progressive state. Until then, stay under the radar and watch Walker embarrass the state of WI in his pursuit of the White House. Walker's anti-education views will haunt him in 2016. Walker will take some serious criticism that is long overdue, and while it won't register with him, it will register with voters. Walker's body language will also turn a lot of voters off on the national level - he has strange facial tics, and his facial gestures are extremely disingenuous. Saturday night live will have a lot of fun mocking how stupid and ho-dunk Walker is.
DeleteI teach the best and brightest young people in my school district. Many of my students will earn college majors in health care, engineering, the sciences, mathematics, etc...Most of my students will be attending colleges outside of Wisconsin; most are being urged by their PARENTS to leave Wisconsin once they graduate. Friends don't let friends live in Walker's Wisconsin.
DeleteIn the past 5 years, I have had 4 student teachers. Only one is teaching in Wisconsin, and he is seeking employment outside of Wisconsin for next year. 5/5 physics & math teachers that have taken their gift to inspire students to schools in Minnesota, Missouri, and Illinois, thanks to Governor Walker and the hateful climate towards teachers he created in Wisconsin.
Walker knows ALL, sees ALL, we no longer need to 'seek truth', we only need to worship at the unholy temple of WALKER. Medical researchers go home, Business School Profs throw away your documents, Walker shall cure ALL, solve ALL
ReplyDeleteTruth is buried under the pile of drivel purchased with money in the name of free speech.
ReplyDeleteIt is a shit budget put together by a govenor who does not give a shit about Wisconsin.
ReplyDeleteActually it's sounding like it's a shit budget put together by the shit political advisers hired by a shit governor to run his shit Presidential campaign. Wisconsin is only where the shit lands while all these shitheads are on their way to go foul up somewhere else.
DeleteAnd to think that before now people always assumed the "on" in "On Wisconsin!" was an adverb, not a preposition...
Basic to every purpose of the system is the indoctrination of free market principles as defined by Charles and David Koch.
ReplyDeleteYou are right on target to say the Kochs have a lot to do with this. And so do the Bradleys. They all support the same free market neoliberal mantra, which runs against the history of how this state actually developed and grew.
DeleteAttacking the Wisconsin Idea, which is what the mission statement of the university shown above bases itself, goes right with what Paul Ryan describes in his latest book. He hates the progressives and their influence, and has even likened them to a "cancer" on America.
Governors--Republicans and Democrats alike--have repected this mission, but not the extremist Scott Walker.
Walker talks about more freedom for UW, but at the same time tells them the change to the mission is not negotiable. Imagine having someone as arrogant and ignorant as Walker running our Nation. It will be a disaster. Walker spends most of this time now trying to disenfranchise those who oppose the GOP and traveling around the Nation with his hand out for donations. While Walker is saying that professors should work a little harder, this guy doesn't show up for work in WI if he has campaigning to do. It is disgusting. He is a sociopath. Walker and his ilk live by 1 set of rules, and the rest of us live in serfdom. Even Walker's supporters live in serfdom, but because it hasn't hit their pocketbooks hard enough yet, they haven't figured it out yet. I hate to admit that I hope Walker's supporters fall hard. Only then do we have a chance to wake this state up and save the Nation from this monster.
