Whitefield Industrial Coatings, a company that specializes in the sandblasting and painting of industrial metal parts, will close its Oshkosh plant early next year, it was announced late Thursday afternoon.
Officials at the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development in Madison said 30 employees will be affected by Whitefield’s plans to close the plant at 2800 N. Main St. in February. Company officials were not immediately available for comment.
How much more of this can we take? Walker needs to go and the sooner he's gone, the sooner the healing can begin.
We lived through a dizzying throng of layoffs under Doyle... I think we will be okay as we actually turn things around.
ReplyDeleteChris, you clearly didn't sleep at all last night... Responding to Anonymous: (thanks for using your name, btw) In December of 2007, Wisconsin's unemployment rate was 4.8% - then the recession hit. Can this be blamed on Jim Doyle? That's quite a stretch.
ReplyDeleteIt is ludicrous to suggest that the only reason people are upset with Walker is jobs, so the Doyle argument in the comment above doesn't cut it here. That was just one of many the promises that people fell for, 250,000 jobs created. No one dreamed he meant cutting public sector jobs, privatizing them and calling that job creation.
ReplyDelete@Jon Anne, What? I got my usual five hours of sleep...
ReplyDeleteBut I think that kind of dedication would make for a fine reporter, don't you? :^)
