I would love it if the Koch Bros would close the Georgia Pacific plants in Green Bay WI and put thousands of union workers out of work and possibly into a homeless shelter as they would never find jobs to replace their wages, maybe then they would stop whining all the time. But probably not that's all unions do is whine.
You'd really "love" that? So, apparently, in your mind, workers should have no say in their workplaces or work conditions. Shut up and do what the boss says. And welcome to the 19th century.
I would like to ask Stephanie since when is it the governments job to "invest" our money in anything? Or more appropriately our childrens money? Wait, I forgot, this is how we "create" jobs in the liberal world.
So, we don't need to invest a dime of public revenue in, say, military defense? Or in public health, like the Centers for Disease Control? Or in the Environmental Protection Agency? Or in consumer protection? Or in scientific research that private businesses can't afford to conduct? Or, or or.
Actually yes, last time his staffer stole the money destined for veterans. Give the money to the veterans but for education so they have a better chance of making it through all the regulations in starting a business. And if they cant get financed they should look again at their business plan. Not for a handout.
Our childrens money, really? How did the little tykes earn it? Lemonade stands, bake sales, paper routes? Please retire that tattered cliche.
When is it appropriate for the government to invest money? How about infrastructure like schools, universities, hospitals, health research labs, disease control, the interstate highway system, the internet, national defense, border control, NASA, water treatment, sewage systems, dams, locks, levees, the national weather system, etc. etc.
By the way, all of the above infrastructure results in big profits for the private sector and all the would-be John Galts who think they got rich on their own and don't want to pay their share of the tab, preferring a free ride.
As far as the Koch brothers go I would like to see the Georgia Pacific plants owned and operated by the workers and the communities they are in. Profits could be reinvested locally to create more jobs rather than to pay for high-priced call girls, mansions, yachts and corrupt political ventures that undermine Democracy. This would mean less money for the Cayman Islands, but that's the breaks.
Our childrens money because we are borrowing about 4 billion per day right now. If the interest rates go up the US will struggle to pay just the interest on its current debt. You can join Capper in demonizing Ryan but it doesn't prove him wrong. I noticed you didn't include green energy in your reason for government to invest. Oh, and NASA, all but de-funded. Its true government plays a role in capitalism, but where that role stops is what differs from socialism. So union ownership of companies now is it? We have that experiment in place right now with GM. Eventually the government will sell out and take the tax payer funding with it (though it may take a change in the presidency) and it will be the unions that are majority share holders. So we'll get to see how your idea works. I cant deny there is greed motivating private business any more than you can deny greed doesn't motivate unions objectives. Lets revisit Tom Aments pension system and talk about greed.

DeleteSo would this story be a problem for you? "State program helps veterans start businesses"

Ah, so in your skewed logic, it's better to punish the victims than the perpetrators. Have fun with that one.

Yeah, it's much better to kick the projects down the road when it will cost even more for our children and grandchildren. Brilliance!
DeleteThe rest of your comment was to rambling and disjointed to understand.
I am glad you feel qualified to determine what to spend their money on.
Delete"The rest of your comment was to rambling and disjointed to understand." lol. Boy, is that the pot calling the kettle black.
