H/T @ryangrim @huffingtonpost:
"Seventy percent of Americans want the American dream. They believe in the American idea. Only 30 percent want the welfare state," Ryan said. "Before too long, we could become a society where the net majority of Americans are takers, not makers." (It's not definitively clear whether Ryan said "the welfare state" or "their welfare state." HuffPost originally transcribed it as "their welfare state." Regardless, the comment was made in reference to people on government assistance.)
Ryan's comments were delivered as part of his keynote address at The American Spectator's 2011 Robert L. Bartley Gala Dinner, which the magazine posted online. A reader tipped HuffPost to Ryan's speech, given in November -- six months before Romney's videotaped remarks.
Yes Paul Ryan talking Morals is like Robin Vos talking ethics. For those of us who are makers, we can show our love for Paul Ryan (R- Ayn Rand) this Saturday, October 6th at the Pfister!
The invitation to Saturday's event says the admission price for the general public is $1,000 per person, while those aged 35 and under can get in for $250.Yes Paul Ryan is such a maker that he is going to take $15,000 from you if you want to have a chance to talk to him. The price has went up considerably since he used to only charge $350 to talk to him.
It costs $15,000 per couple for a private dinner and those wishing to be recognized as a "Founding Partner" need to give $100,000.
The United States has the largest income disparity and the lowest social mobility of any western industrialized society. Perhaps it's time to replace the worn out, over used phrase "the American Dream" with a more realistic one: "The American Fantasy."
ReplyDeleteI would like Paul Ryan to explain to the Sensata workers in Illinois, who are now training their replacement workers from China while Romney and Bain take profits and capital out of the company, who exactly are the "makers" and the "takers" in this scenario.
