MR. REED: I want to push back on this notion of Paul Ryan as a serious man. He b-- he voted for every budget b-- busting measure under President Bush. He voted for TARP. He asked for money under the American Recovery and Investment Act. He voted for both wars. He put Medicare on a credit card, and then all of a sudden in last 24 months, he’s developing the stature as a serious guy, so I want to push back on that… GREGORY: Well, so why… MR. REED: …and then in terms of this week-- and then in terms of this week, he has underperformed Sarah Palin. He’s contributed about a one percent bump, and according to Gallup, the Republican pick for Vice President typically performs at about five points.

Paul Ryan is not a fiscal conservative, he only plays one in the media. If you take a close look at his actual actions since he's been in congress, you'll find his major purpose is to make the rich a lot richer and to hell with the rest of us. His medicare scheme fits right into that theme. And, as they said about Watergate "Follow the money!"
ReplyDeleteIf you really want to know more about this faux fiscal conservative, there's a terrific (with a bit of humor sprinkled in) analysis and take-down of Congressman Ryan in the "Fryin' Ryan" post at "Grumbles From an Old Grouch" (grumblesfromanoldgrouch.com)
Is this true, did paul ryan really receive Social Security benefits til he was 18?

Yes, it's how he afforded Miami of Ohio.
ReplyDeleteFunny that you mention that...
DeleteGreat call-out by Mayor Reed. Just cause you can spew BS talking points with a straight face doesn't mean you are a "serious" guy. Nor does it make you intelligent. And any "bump" will be going away in the next couple of weeks, especially once the Dems take the stage in early September.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, too many low-info easily-led fools don't know the difference between BS con men and smart people. And that's who Paul Ryan uses and abuses to keep his job.
True jake but the spotlight is shining on ryan and its not very pretty for him. People are seeing him for the first time.
DeleteP.S. You can bet Mayor Reed won't be back on "Meet the Press" any time soon after telling the truth about TARP and Paul Ryan like that. That type of talk doesn't go over well in the Village (but BS artists like Peggy Noonan will be back time and again, you can be sure)
