Milwaukee Labor Day Rally 2013

As advertised, today was the Labor March and Rally in Milwaukee.  It seemed odd not to be at the lakefront for the usual Laborfest, but there was a very good turn out - well over 1,000 people - and a lot of fun was to be had in this family friendly event.

Here are some of the pictures that I took:

Emerge WI representing with Tracey Corder
(Class of 2012) and Emerge WI Executive
Director Wendy Strout

Strout and Emerge WI alumna (Class of 2011) and State
Senator Nikiya Harris

Mayor Tom Barrett

Jim Sommerville, State Rep Mandela Barnes,
Rep. Fred Kessler

What Labor Rally would be complete without brats and beer?
My favorite is not one I took but can be found on the Facebook timeline of Voces de la Frontera:

Other great (and better) photos can be seen on the Facebook timelines of Voces de la Frontera and Jim Sommerville.

It should be noted that other electeds, like Milwaukee County Supervisor John Weishan were present, but I did not get a picture of them.

It was also great to see some of the great labor leaders like Boyd McCamish (AFSCME), Stephanie Bloomingdale (AFL-CIO) and Candice Owley (Nurses' union).

It should also be noted that Milwaukee County Emperor Chris Abele was not there at all.  Odd thing that, considering that there are some that swear he is really a progressive.  Apparently not so much.
