Slickster Scott Walker Panders To Big Oil

As is his wont, Scott Walker sent out his almost weekly e-newsletter on Friday.

Most of it was filled with his vacation photos as he started selling hunks of the state to China.  At the end of the newsletter, he made a boast almost as egregious as his promise to create 250,000 jobs:

This week, I urged Secretary of State John Kerry to move swiftly on the expansion of the Keystone Pipeline.  The expansion of the pipeline is our chance to have a new North American energy source.  Expanding the pipeline will produce 830,000 barrels of oil per day, which will have an enormously positive economic impact.
In addition, if the pipeline is approved in a timely manner, countless jobs in the United States stand to be created.  Wisconsin has an opportunity to benefit from this job growth.
Wow! What a guy, looking out for us like that.

But there is a few snags to Walker's hope.

He apparently got the number of jobs the pipeline will create from MacIver.  The truth is that the pipeline will create only 35 permanent and 15 temporary jobs.  And does anyone really think that those few jobs will be in Wisconsin, much less filled by Wisconsinites?

What the pipeline will bring us is more CO2 every year, more than could be produced by 37.7 million cars or 51 coal plants.

And it will make the pipeline burst in Jackson look like spilled milk.  Who wouldn't want their home to look like those in Arkansas?

At least a spill from the pipeline wouldn't cause health risks, right? Well, no.

It's pretty obvious that Walker is only pushing that because he's pandering to the deep pockets of Big Oil and Big Energy.

After all, if he's going to have even the remotest chance of being president, it's gonna take a helluva lot of money to cover up things like his crappy job numbers, his role in Walkergate and his lack of a college education.

Walker tries to project an image as if he's some revered font of wisdom to whom all around him turn for guidance. The man's ego is exponentially out of proportion to his substance. What a buffoon!

    1. Great point Charles Kuehn. I always chuckle when Scoots acts as if he is on the world stage. Uneducated fool!

  2. Trying to be a Tommy Thompson? Remember what an embarrassment he was to Wisconsin?! Walker already threw away jobs that would have been created for wind energy and mass transit (trains), so it is obvious he is after the "oil" money for his future campaigns!

  3. Tommy at least got some positive economic results in Wisconsin (for a while, anyway), even though he was a buffoon. Walker has the buffonery down, but with a lot more meanness, even more corruption, and horrible results.

There is little doubt in my mind that Walker turning down the train money is related to Bill Gardner's excessive donations at WSOR, Road Builder money, and Koch favors. It had very little to do with ideology, and nothing to do with policy.

  4. Isn't that MMSD sewage dumping in the photo?

  5. Anonymous at 6:52, since money is required to stop the pollution from MMSD, do you support raising taxes to pay for the infrastructure improvements needed to stop the pollution?

  6. Yeah, his shameless buffoonery has really climbed off the chart since the media, a few months ago, christened him as a conservative "rock star." I'm sure that plays into the kind of phony posturing noted above. None of it should surprise anyone and, far from finding amusement in it, it really grates on me.
